Objectives:
● To learn NOAA’s current priorities and objectives
● To share the Center’s progress, new initiatives, and plans
● To foster better collaboration/connection between CESSRST II Scientists and NOAA Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
Expected Outcomes:
● CESSRST II leadership, faculty and students will become aware of NOAA’s priorities
● CESSRST II will enhance collaboration and contribution to NOAA by expanding the presence of NOAA mentors in key areas and increasing NOAA-funded research, at CESSRST II Institutions, that will boost institutional capacity and strengthen engagement with NOAA
● CESSRST II will expand workforce opportunities, in the NOAA mission enterprise, for CESSRST II students

Accelerating Earth System modeling is essential to improve weather forecast accuracy and lead time, which requires advancements in Earth System Science. There are many unmet observational needs in supporting Earth System Science research.
